Mark Spitz has been a swimmer nearly all his life. After first learning to swim at age 2, entering his first competition by age 6 and holding his first world record by the age of 17, it seems he was destined to be one of the world’s best swimmers.
He took the world by storm, first by winning a record five Gold Medals at the 1967 Pan-American Games, then with seven Gold Medals at the 1972 Olympics. To this day, no other athlete in any event has beaten his record for Gold Medals won in a single Olympiad.
Now at 57, Mark is as fit as ever, exercising every day and taking care of his health. But like many other Americans, he has high cholesterol and other chronic health issues. As a Medco member, Mark has cardiovascular specialist pharmacists who help him manage his prescription medications.
