Jackie Joyner-Kersee

Jackie Joyner-Kersee once said: “Achievement is difficult. It requires enormous effort. Those who can work through the struggle are the ones who are going to be successful.”

As a three-time Olympic Gold Medalist, four-time World Champion and current heptathlon record-holder, she knows a thing or two about struggles and success. Even before she proved herself as a track and basketball star at UCLA, Jackie had trained relentlessly to be the best.

The more she pushed herself, the more she achieved. She was the first woman to score over 7,000 points in a heptathlon event and holds six of the all-time best results. With all of her success throughout the ’80s and ’90s, it’s no wonder that Sports Illustrated for Women named her the “Greatest Female Athlete of the 20th Century.”*

Now retired from pro sports, Jackie still competes against the most challenging opponent of her life every day: her asthma. As a Medco member, she works with pulmonary specialist pharmacists, who specialize in asthma and other breathing problems, to help her manage her medications.
