Peggy Flemming

Peggy Fleming is no stranger to adversity. As an aspiring 11-year-old figure skater, Peggy lost her coach and every role model she’d known in the tragic 1961 plane crash that took the lives of the entire U.S. Figure Skating Team on the way to the Prague World Championships.

Peggy was left to find her own style and path to the Olympics. After winning five U.S. titles and two World titles, she took the ice at the 1968 Winter Games in Grenoble, France.

Peggy was the only U.S. athlete to take home a Gold Medal that year, and her victory marked America’s comeback as an international figure skating contender. Thirty years after this momentous win, however, she once again received sobering news: she had breast cancer. Through surgery and radiation treatment, she recovered.

Today, Peggy still keeps a close eye on her health. As a Medco member, she would rely on her oncology specialist pharmacists to help her manage her prescription medications should her condition return.
